Spring Sock Burning Party - March

Legend has it that boaters would celebrate the start of Spring by burning the worn-out socks they had been wearing all winter. Sailors and boaters up and down the coast continue this tradition, and PHYC will celebrate this event with an annual get together where members, new and old can get acquainted or re-acquainted as the case may be...and, of course, burn those old socks!

Cajun Party at the Wallach's - May

Date: May, 1, 2010 - 12:00 - 6:00 PM - Josh & Barb Wallach, Event Coordinator

Bring your favorite Cajun dish to share (gumbo, jambalaya, dirty rice, boudin, whatever!) and beverage of choice.  Come by water if you can...if you know where the Turtle club is, then you can find our house by dinghy.  Boat dock will hold LOTS of dinghies! Of course you can come by land barge (2533 Breaux Trace, Seabrook) but water approach is encouraged - waypoints will be provided!

Youth Sailing Instruction #1 - May - Postponed

HYC Lunch Raft-Up - May - CANCELLED due to Weather

Date: May 15, 2010 - 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM

Cruise over to the area beside HYC and raft-up.  Hop from boat to boat enjoying lunch, socializing and maybe a swim!

Rum Distillery Tour - June

Date: June 19, 2010 - 10:00 AM - Al & Lauri Cusick, Event Coordinator

The tour & tasting will take 45 minutes to an hour, there is no charge for the tour, if you want to keep your Railean Rum shot glass it is $3.  They also sells Railean Rum shirts ($15) and ball caps ($10) - cash or check only.  Run is not sold at the distillery, it is against the law, but if your would like to go over to San Leon Liquor and purchase the rum (right down the street), she will go with you and sign bottles.

Cardboard Boat Race - August

Date: August 14 & 15, 2010 - Rick & Stephanie Stafford, Event Coordinator

This is a TEAM event!  Teams must consist of 5 members.  One of the 5 members must be a minor!  Boat building materials will only consist of cardboard, duck-tape and paint.  Rules will be provided before event.

Photo Cruise - August

Date: August 21, 2010 - 10:00 Am to 2:00 PM

Cruise out to the bay and have your photo taken.  Photo boats will be stationed at different areas in the bay.  This is a great opportunity to get some good shots of your boat under sail or just cruise around!

Boat Hopping Party - September

Date: September 25, 2010 - 6 PM - Jay Bailey, Event Coordinator

4-5 host boats!  Host boats will provide snacks and libation for both adults and youth.  Each host boat will be open for a designated 30 minutes for PHYC members to board …..and party. Then off to the next host boat.

Harvest Moon Regatta - October

Date: October 21 - 23, 2010 - Camille Rogers & Barb Wallach, Event Coordinator

This is a sailboat race from Galveston to Port Aransas.  Racers will take off from the Flagship Hotel Pier in Galveston on Thursday, October 21st and must arrive in Port Aransas by 1:00 PM Saturday, October 23rd.  Land Yacht'ers cruise down and welcome PHYC'ers in!  Welcome Sailor Rum Party and Awards Party starts Saturday, October 23rd at 4:30 PM.

Ballunar Liftoff Festival - October

Date: October 29 - 31, 2010

Anchor/raft-up Friday night in Nassau Bay.  Watch the balloons as they lift off and join us for a potluck breakfast.

French Picnic - Double Bayou - November                  

Date: November 25 - 28, 2010

Join TMCA on their Double Bayou French Picnic extravaganza.  This event last 4 days.  Come for part or all.  Details on TMCA website www.tmca.nu.

Boat Christmas Lighting Contest - December

Boats must be decorated and entered by 12/6/2010.  Boats must fly a PHYC Burgee.  Judges decisions are final.  First place prize for best decorated power boat and sail boat.  Please let Jay Bailey know that you are participating.   2009
